Giudice Builds ADU Project Case Study: Our team recently completed a 650-square-foot accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in Colorado Springs. We designed this space to provide comfortable, practical living for adult children, aging parents, or long-term renters. Every detail focused on usability, natural light, and a layout that makes daily living easy and enjoyable.
The unit includes one bedroom and one full bathroom. Ceilings reach nine feet, giving the space an open and airy feel. Windows are placed to maximize natural light, which flows into the living area and the kitchen, keeping the space bright and inviting.

What was done in the Living Area:

Our living area was designed for comfort and function. Large windows bring in plenty of sunlight, and the space connects seamlessly with the kitchen. We included an island for prep work and casual dining, making it a practical spot for cooking or gathering.

We did face a minor delay in appliance delivery. The range and microwave are arriving next week. Still, the kitchen is fully functional with plenty of cabinets and counter space, giving the home a modern and convenient feel.

What was done?

Next to the kitchen, we set up a laundry space for a full washer and dryer set. This leads directly into the bedroom, which can easily fit a queen-size bed. There’s plenty of closet space, so storage isn’t an issue.

This setup works well for adult children, parents, or even siblings. It allows privacy while keeping rooms accessible and connected.

We gave special attention to the bathroom. It’s a full-size space with a shower and a vanity. Elijah, our tile expert, installed floor-to-ceiling 12×24 tiles, giving the bathroom a clean and durable finish. The layout ensures comfort and convenience for residents.

What was done for Comfort and Utility:

We installed a furnace and an air conditioning unit to keep the space comfortable year-round. There’s also a crawl space that allows easy access to utilities and extra storage. Every system in this ADU was designed for efficiency and practicality.
What was done for Natural Light and Open Layout:
Natural light was a priority for us. We placed windows to brighten the living area and kitchen while maintaining privacy. The layout makes the unit feel larger than 650 square feet, and the kitchen island serves as both a workspace and a gathering spot.
This ADU is flexible in its use. It can house adult children, aging parents, or serve as a long-term rental. Every square foot is functional. The bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and laundry all provide comfort and convenience without wasting space.

Even with the minor delay in appliance delivery, we stayed on track and maintained high standards for quality. Coordination with suppliers ensured the project moved smoothly.
This ADU demonstrates that small spaces can be both functional and stylish. It offers:
High ceilings and thoughtful window placement make the space feel bright and welcoming. Every area is designed for convenience, comfort, and usability.
This project shows what Giudice Builds aims to deliver with every ADU. We focus on practical layouts, modern amenities, and attention to detail. The Colorado Springs ADU is ready to serve a variety of residents, whether it’s adult children, aging parents, or tenants.
At 650 square feet, this unit provides full functionality without feeling cramped. The open layout, large windows, and well-designed kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom make it a comfortable and adaptable home. Our team worked through minor delays and maintained quality standards from start to finish.
If you’re in Colorado Springs and considering building an ADU, this project reflects our approach: practical design, high-quality construction, and a focus on livable, modern spaces.
Giudice Builds was one of the best experiences I had in having something built in my home.
